Can you relate to this situation?
You eat healthy all week. Then on the weekend you go overboard allowing anything to go into your mouth.
By Sunday evening you’re saying,
“Ugh. You just keep messing up. You are such a failure. Just forget it. Who cares anyway?”
But what’s not typical, the women that choose NOT to believe these lies.
The women the dismiss this thinking are the ones that confident and just magnetic to be around.
How you talk to yourself determines how you feel about yourself. How your feel about yourself will determine how you will treat yourself AND others.
Two weeks ago, I explained why it’s vital that Christian women build their self-confidence.
You alone created my inner being. You knitted me together inside my mother. I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made. Your works are miraculous, and my soul is fully aware of this. Psalm 139:13-14
However, you are chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, people who belong to God. You were chosen to tell about the excellent qualities of God, who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9
Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. Isaiah 64:8
These are God’s words. This is how He thinks about you. Amazing and miraculous. Chosen. Royal. A work of God’s hands. And these are JUST A FEW of His thoughts about you.
What if you said these things and others like…
to yourself every day and BELIEVED them?
How would your life be different? How would you show up in your life differently?
Here are a few ideas…
Do you see?
Take a moment and answer this question for me...
What is the upside to thinking poorly about yourself?
In thinking…
“I’m no good.”
“I’m terrible at everything.”
“My life is such a struggle.”
“Everything is so hard.”
“I’M NOT ENOUGH.” (Capitalized becaue I encounter this one the most.)
Because when you think about these negative thoughts you hide, get angry, hold grudges, poorly perform, become unfocused, lose relationships, over eat, over drink and so much more.
All negative actions that make you feel WORSE (not only about you but about others too).
Do you want to be confident in who God made you?
That’s when things start to shift.
You embrace that you were put on this earth for a plan (Isaiah 29:11) and you were put here to do good works (Ephesians 2:10).
Then you start doing those good works CONSISTENTLY.
Which just builds more confidence and more abundant living.
And so on and so on....
One last thing, having a good opinion of the person God created does NOT make you arrogant or selfish.
Having a solid opinion of you is KNOWING you have an awesome creator that made not only you, but everyone else too. It's a drive to LIVE that knowing out and serve others with your God-given gifts.
P.S. Changing your opinion of yourself can be tough. It takes knowledge, support and loving accountablilty from someone outside of you.
